President's Message - February 2012

Susie Vetter
President
Hello Ladies. Please read on as this is an important topic.
A few things have been brought to my attention in recent days. First and
foremost it is necessary to point out that there have been a lot of
cancellations and no shows on Tuesday Sweep's day. This has been for the
last two weeks and more, so the fact that it rained last Tuesday has
nothing to do with it. This is not acceptable for our club's success
when we negotiate with Ron and Roger. I do not know if it is our
members, or if it is those ladies outside of our club that insist on
taking our times. It is an unfortunate situation. Therefore, I am
suggesting that the following points be read, understood and hopefully
respected as the policies of our club.
1. As members of CWGC, please only sign up yourself and a maximum of
three other MEMBERS for a tee time on Tuesdays.
2. Be sure when you do sign up others, that you check to be sure they
have not already signed you up, or have already been signed up by
someone else.
Another issue that is rearing it's ugly head again is slow play. The
marshals are only doing their job when they monitor the pace of play.
They are instructed to be sure that the pace of play for the mornings,
any morning, is 4:30 minutes. It is our job to stay up with the group in
front of us. If you are on the tee on a par three, and the group in
front of you is not on the green, you are behind. If the group in front
of you has wings on their feet, then be sure you stay on track for a
4:30 round. Ways to remedy this if you are playing slowly and can't help
it: let the group behind you play through on a par three; don't take
longer than 2-3 minutes to find a lost ball; hit a provisional ball off
the tee when you feel you may be out of bounds or may be lost.
Ramifications: If we do not do our part, we could lose our tee times
again. It is very hard to say that we need more tee times, if we go out
on Tuesdays as threesomes or twosomes. I hope you all understand where I
am coming from here. The board has discussed this long and hard and have
tried to find remedies. We need your help and cooperation.
Betsy Andersen will be helping us by monitoring the tee sheets after
play to find out if it is our members or non-members that are causing
this problem. Please cooperate with her in every way. She is trying to
help us help you.
Thank you for your time and understanding.
